Through his initiatives Black Ambition and YELLOW, he has directed substantial resources toward promoting education, entrepreneurship, and cultural access in underprivileged communities. Black Ambition provides mentorship and funding to emerging Black and Latinx entrepreneurs in the U.S., while YELLOW develops creative learning programs and reimagines public education to cultivate innovation among youth.
In his acceptance speech, Williams shared a personal reflection rooted in his own past: growing up in a modest neighborhood in Virginia, he often doubted that life would grant him such opportunities. His first act in this role set the tone: a motivational session for 900 high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds, active in fields such as film, fashion, and music. During the event, UNESCO also screened his animated biographical film Piece by Piece, directed by Morgan Neville, which narrates Williams’s creative evolution through LEGO animation.
